DUSHANBE, January 11, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Delivering his most recent Friday sermon (January 8), the head of the Council of Ulema of Tajikistan, Saidmukkaram Abduqodirzoda, described Iran’s invitation to Muhididn Kabiri, the leader of the banned Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRP), to an international conference as “abetting terrorism,” according to Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service .

“How it is possible to assess Tehran’s official invitation to the leader of the party that has been designated by the Supreme Court of Tajikistan as a terrorist organization?   It has become clear now who supports this terrorist party and its leader,” Abduqodirzoda was quoted as saying.

He also noted that the fact that Muhiddin Kabiri was seated on the same row as the Tajik delegation was an insult to them.

“By inviting Muhididn Kabiri to the International Islamic Unity Conference Iran has openly demonstrated its support for this terrorist party,” Tajik grand mufti said.

At the same time, he highly appraised a hospitality arranged by Saudi Arabia for a high-ranking delegation of Tajikistan led by President Emomali Rahmon during a January 3-5 visit.

We will recall that delivering his sermon January 1, Tajik grand mufti Saidmukkaram Abduqodirzoda said Iran’s invitation to Muhiddin Kabiri was an unjustifiable demonstration of Tehran’s open support for the IRP.  Abduqodirzoda described Kabiri as a “traitor” and Iran as an “abettor of traitors.”
